Baltic herring & potato bake with cream cheese

500 g of Baltic herring fillets

5-7 potatoes (amount as desired)

2 eggs

200 ml of  thickened cream

100 g of cream cheese

Salt, pepper and dill

(1 onion)


Pre-heat the oven to 180 °C.

Peel and slice the potatoes and layer them in an oven dish, sprinkling a little salt and pepper between the layers. Roll up and place the fish fillets on top of the potatoes. (If you are using a larger oven dish, simply layer the fish fillets flat on top of the potatoes.) If desired, place rings of onions between or beneath the fish fillets. Sprinkle over the salt, pepper and chopped dill.

Crack the eggs into a bowl and add the cream and (more or less room-temperature) cream cheese. Combine with a fork or mixer until smooth and pour over the fish and potatoes.

Bake for around 60 minutes.
